On Friday, the Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Pravati Parida, announced that over 95 lakh women have signed up for the Subhadra Yojana so far. She gave this information during a meeting of district collectors at the Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Center in Bhubaneswar. Parida is confident that the number of registered women will soon reach 1 crore.

Subhadra Yojana Odisha

The Subhadra Yojana, which was started by the Odisha government earlier this year, is meant to help married women by giving them financial support. The scheme offers a total of ₹50,000, with ₹5,000 given twice a year. It also has a new feature where money is sent using Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). The main aim is to improve the financial situation of women, help them become more independent, and support them in starting their own businesses.

During the conference, Deputy CM Parida thanked district collectors and officials for successfully running the Subhadra Yojana. She said it is important to focus on spreading awareness about the scheme in rural and tribal areas. Parida also asked the officials to make sure that all eligible women get their first payment by March 8, 2025.

1 Crore Registrations Under Subhadra Yojana Expected Soon

Pravati Parida said that 1 crore 57 lakh 155 forms have been given out across Odisha. So far, 95 lakh women have signed up for the scheme. The Odisha government plans to register at least 1 crore women by the end of the year.

The government has already paid 25.29 lakh women. Out of these, 25 lakh 17 thousand 545 women got the money directly in their bank accounts. Meanwhile, 12 thousand 175 women received their payments through Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). This new digital currency lets them use the money with UPI QR codes or transfer it to their bank accounts.

Public Awareness Efforts

The Deputy Chief Minister praised the efforts to spread awareness about the Subhadra Yojana in villages and remote areas. Different ways, like sharing information and education, were used to tell women about the benefits of the scheme. Women who are part of the National Food Security Scheme (NFSS) and State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) are being carefully watched through the Social Protection Delivery Platform (SPDP) to make sure they get the help they need.

In areas where women were not included in the NFSS and SFSS, field surveys will be done to check who qualifies for the Subhadra Yojana. All the accepted and rejected applications will be shown on the official Subhadra Yojana website, and if a form is rejected, the reason will be given. Women will also get updates about their applications through SMS.

Funds Are Safe in Bank Accounts

Some people have been saying that the money from the Subhadra Yojana will go back to the government if it is not taken out of the bank accounts on time. However, the Department of Women and Child Development has said that these rumors are not true. The money in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries is safe, and there is no chance that the government will take it back.

Deputy CM Parida is worried that many tribal areas may not know about the Subhadra Yojana. She asked the District Magistrates to work harder to spread the word in these areas so that more women can take advantage of the scheme. She also said that registering one crore women would be a big success for the government.

Health, Information, and Technology Minister Mukesh Mahaling praised how well technology is being used in the Subhadra Yojana. He suggested that districts with the most registrations through the ‘Mo Seva Kendra’ and ‘Jana Seva Kendra’ should get rewards. He also emphasized the need to connect these service centers with the Aadhaar system to make it easier for people to register.

Target for First Instalment by March 8, 2025

The Odisha government is making strong efforts to make sure that all eligible women get their first payment by March 8, 2025. This will be an important step in successfully carrying out the Subhadra Yojana and will help improve the financial situation of women in the state. With more than 95 lakh women already registered, the goal of reaching 1 crore beneficiaries is almost within reach.
